How to Get Rid of Wrinkles

While wrinkles can be a sign of maturity and wisdom, they are generally looked upon as a sign of old age and loss of beauty. The best way to get rid of wrinkles on the face is to avoid getting them. It is possible to undo some of the effects that time and elements take on skin. Some time, patience and work will help to reduce wrinkles.

1.    Skin Care

  • Apply a cream containing Vitamin A daily. Be prepared for redness and puffiness in the beginning. This is part of the process and will eventually go away.
  • Use an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) product daily. Do not expect dramatic or immediate results. Results are minimal and do take some time.
  • Apply anti-oxidant creams. Apply these creams on a daily basis. Be sure that the cream contains more than one anti-oxidant. Vitamins A, C, E, beta-carotene and lycopene are all examples of anti-oxidants.
  • Have a dermatologist perform a chemical peel on your face. Be prepared for severe discomfort and temporary unfavorable changes to the skin.

2.    Stop Smoking

Smoking cigarettes or cigars or taking tobacco always harms your skin. Too much intake of tobacco reduces the moisture of our skin and its elasticity. You will find smokers with wrinkles on their face, especially around their mouth and under their eyes.

3.    Healthy Diet

There is this saying 'You are what you eat'. Hence, it is important to have a healthy and balanced diet, to get rid of wrinkles. One should include lots of fruits and vegetables which are a rich source of essential vitamins and minerals. Green leafy vegetables, beans and berries contain antioxidants that help in fighting the free radicals that cause premature aging and thus, aid in doing away with them.

Add sweet potatoes to your diet. Sweet potatoes are great sources of hyaluronic acid, which can help get rid of wrinkles. Having sweet potatoes once or twice a week should supply you with a safe level and help keep your skin smooth and supple.

4. Be Sun Safe

Avoid direct Sunlight: Staying under the sun for a long duration can damage your skin. The moisture in the middle layer may reduce and create wrinkles on the face and other parts of the body. So try to avoid the habit of staying under the sun. Apply sunscreen before moving out.
