Combination Skin: Oily T-Zone, Dry Cheeks

Combination skin could be considered the toughest skin type to conquer because you could be dealing with two opposite ends of the skin care spectrum. The majority of people with combination skin have a T-zone that is oily, and cheeks that are dry. Many people deal with occasional breakouts and larger than normal pores, especially on the nose.

The trick for caring for combination skin is finding a product that will help prevent breakouts and control oiliness in the problem areas and keep the cheeks well moisturized

Look for products in a serum or lightweight lotion form. These can easily be layered with moisturizers or tougher acne medications. Retinol or Alpha Hydroxy Acids work well for controlling the oil and breakouts, and also help to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles. In the right concentrations, they are non-drying, so they can be used on the dry areas of the face as well.
